US Launches Minuteman Missile

Posted on October 3, 2019

The Minuteman III was launched at 01:13am local time on Wednesday from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

The missile travelled approximately 4,200 miles (6,760km) from the west coast base and over the Pacific Ocean.

It landed near Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, in the North Pacific.

The test came hours after US President Donald Trump suggested the United States has secret weapons, when he said: “We have the newest equipment and we also have equipment that we keep under wraps that nobody’s ever heard of.

“We have weapons that we pray to God we never have to use.”

North Korea carried out its own ballistic missile test in the early hours of Wednesday.

North Korea’s demonstration of military capability is one of several launches in recent months, following US President Donald Trump’s refusal to loosen sanctions on North Korea during a summit in February.

The two countries are however expected to resume nuclear negotiations in the coming days.
