The BC Experiment are releasing the CD single “The Bells”
A SOUTHAMPTON based band are releasing a charity single at the end of the month.
The BC Experiment are releasing the CD single “The Bells” alongside a release party at the Cottage, Netley on October 27 from 3pm.
The band are raising money for the Southampton Veterans Drop-in Centre, Woolston, to mark the Centenary of the First World War.
The brains behind the centre Colin Gaylor said: “It’s high time we did something for our military people. We have routinely failed them and asked them to do the most difficult things on our behalf.”
The band will be screening their music video at the launch party, and the CD for “The Bells” will be available, costing £5 and will include a poppy. From then the single will be available to buy from BC Experiment’s Facebook shop and ITunes.
Southampton Veterans Drop-in Centre and the Victoria Pub, Woolston, were both used for filming of the video on Saturday, and many of the local veterans pulled together to make the video memorable and heartfelt.
The facility provides a much needed place for veterans who need help, support, or just want a chat.
Colin Gaylor spotted the need for somewhere for veterans of all ages to access services and get support. He based the centre in an underused NHS clinic offering services such as a nurse and dentist, as well as volunteers to give advice and chat.
He said: “Some Veterans, when they leave the military, they are like a fish out of water. We have a nurse coming in once a month, and we’re hoping to have a dentist come in as well.
We are here to signpost them to the right place if they need help. It’s the cities only drop-in centre.
The drop-in centre is accessible Monday’s, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2-9pm.
Colin and his wife Tracy also run the Southampton Breakfast Club. These are made up of groups of veterans and serving members of all of her majesty’s armed forces.
