Bomb Squad Called To Devizes In Wiltshire

Posted on October 25, 2019

Police were called to Anzio Road, Devizes, just before 12:30 BST following concerns about the item which was discovered in a property.
A 50m (164ft) cordon is in place as a precaution due to the “nature of the concern”, the Wiltshire force said.
No-one has been injured and affected residents have been moved to the nearby Hourglass pub, police added.
Anzio Road is built on land which was previously home to several military barracks.
After they were knocked down, the land stood derelict for a long period until it was built on. Duty Supt Chris Chammings said: “This incident is currently ongoing and we would ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation while we work alongside partner agencies to establish exactly what we are dealing with.
“If you are a resident of Anzio Road and are returning home shortly, please go to The Hourglass where a representative from the local authority will provide further assistance.
“If you have any questions or concerns when you arrive at the pub, I would ask that you speak to any officers or members of Wiltshire Council who are at the location.
“We will look to update everyone as soon as we are able and ask you to follow our social media channels which will be updated,” he added.
