99 Days Until Invictus Games Team Trials In Sheffield

Posted on April 11, 2019

The city will host qualifying this summer for the next Games in the Hague in 2020. To mark the occasion, players from Sheffield Volleyball Club and Team UK Invictus Games Alumni did battle. The Team UK Invictus Games Trials will be the first-ever national games for wounded, injured and sick veterans and personnel.

Defence Minister Tobias Ellwood was guest of honour at the 100-day milestone. “It isn’t just about the trials, it is actually about a national event. Huge celebrations and I do hope people across Sheffield, sponsors and so forth, will get involved and support the project.”

Taking place in Sheffield this summer between 22 and 26 July, they will also incorporate Team UK’s Trials for the next Invictus Games, which will take place in The Hague, Netherlands in May 2020.

The events and sporting activities will provide opportunities for up to 500 individuals and their families to use the power of sport, teamwork and competition to significantly accelerate their recovery. Participants will take part in adaptive sports including athletics, wheelchair basketball, powerlifting, swimming and sitting volleyball.
