Do You Soar with Eagles?

Posted on August 7, 2019

Following on from the blog about Birds of a Feather, here is a blog that was seeded when I was told something again, for the first time in a decade or more:

“You’ll never soar with the Eagles while you’re scratching with Turkeys”

At the time, I couldn’t really see the full extent of this axiom, but over time, things become more evident, don’t they?

Yes, Positive Mental Attitude, goal setting, planned approaches and intents all have their place in creating a success-based mindset, but there is so much to be said for surrounding yourself with people that have the same background and attitude.

Before you start to think that I am talking about success as a £multi-million bank account and scores of cars in the drive, I am not.  Success is defined for me as achieving and sustaining a life-style that you seek; whether that is having a house, happy family and regular paying work or whether it is indeed the desire to earn enough to take more time off and enjoy the best that life can offer.  That covered, let’s get back to the point.

Soaring with eagles can be explained as being around people that have a similar set of principles and values to you.  I think, specifically in the current era, it can be very easy to slip into very negative and demoralising conversations that drain the spirit and drive and result in a downward spiral that benefits nobody.

Keeping a positive mindset, identifying positive steps forward and working with people that are all focussed on success delivery is a very powerful engine.  I use the term engine intentionally; it can start to generate its own power and generate more positivity and better connections.

I have been working on a project for a few months now, and as time has passed, I have made more connections with people and generated positive steps forward now on a daily basis.  The more I drive forward and interact with the people around me sharing the challenges we face in a positive-focussed way, the more people I am being introduced to and the sooner we are addressing the challenges and taking leaps forward.

“Soaring with Eagles” is NOT about leaving your current friendship groups and seeking a new set of people that you would not normally connect with, it is about seeking out the people around you that bring positivity and progress and avoiding others that are negative with little or no spirit for development of themselves nor those around them.  Not excluding them totally from your life but ensuring that you don’t get dragged into their negativity and self-defeat.

Soaring with Eagles as a mindset and intent will bring about a more positive and expectant life and equally, some challenges that you face will be more easily approached and overcome.
