Bernard Jordan to Receive Accolade

Normandy veteran Bernard Jordan, who staged a ‘great escape’ from his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary celebrations of D-Day in France, could be honoured with the freedom of his home city.

 The 89-year-old, pictured right, stole away from Hove to Portsmouth so he could get the ferry to France.

The Mayor of Brighton and Hove Brian Fitch is now proposing thecity council grants the accolade to Mr Jordan.
